Dr. Vasileios Chatzis

Professor of ICT Technologies

Professor Vasileios Chatzis received his Diploma in Electrical Engineering in 1991 and his PhD in Informatics in 1999, both from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Management Science and Technology at the Democritus University of Thrace. He teaches Computer Programming, Information Systems and Software Technology courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

From 1993 to 1999, he was a researcher at the Artificial Intelligence and Information Analysis Laboratory in the Department of Informatics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He also taught in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Democritus University of Thrace. 

His current research interests include business intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, data clustering and digital image processing and analysis. He has over 20 years’ experience in research, acting as a coordinator or member of research groups on various projects. He has published over 50 research papers which are internationally recognized, having been cited more than 1500 times. He is also a reviewer for many international scientific journals.
